Inside-Outside Circle

Description :
Students divide in two groups to form two circles one inside the other. The group in the inner circle faces outward, while the outer group faces inward. The purpose of this activity is to discuss a given topic, or a question is posted on the board or read aloud by the teacher. the mission is to activate prior knowledge and to exchange ideas , perceptions and opinions with one person in the circle. The norm is to discuss for a minute, then after a minute has massed, a bell or a noise maker is used to warn the groups to stop talking an switch in a clockwise direction to the next person in the group. Then the minute starts again, but this time, bot students have more information to share, then it is a good opportunity to build more ideas and details to the topic or question.

Activates memory and prior knowledge, promotes comprehension or better understanding of complex and controversial issues. It can be used at ay grade level and for any academic subject. Think Pair, and Share
