Description:
Given a controversial topic to discuss, class is divided into groups of 4 students in each team participants will be provided with colored sticky pads and while seating on a table, face to face, each one will come out with as many ideas, words, terms related to that topic forming a semantic map. These ideas will be written on the sticky notes and placed on the center of the table so everybody has easy access to them.
Later, after categories have been identified, all sticky notes will be placed on a poster board for a broader and deeper analysis of topic of the day. Everyone group shares the outcomes with the class instead of only one person.
Applications:
This strategy can be used in all subjects and can be adjusted to meet the educational needs of all students. It is very effective in all classroom settings and with all learning styles, because it promotes student accountability and increases student participation rate. No child is left behind and all participate in the completion of a task.
